We are contacting you to inform you that a new online database called IPAFEED (Information Platform for Animal health and GM Feed) has been established. The content of the database is related to the health impact of the consumption of feeds containing Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO) by livestock. IPAFEED is created within EU funded project MARLON, which aims to support the post-market monitoring for health impacts of animal feeds, in particular those with GM ingredients.
The database, which will be kept updated throughout the duration of the project, aims to facilitate the access to information that links livestock health and consumption of feeds containing Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO) during a certain part of animals’ lifetime.
It presents a collection of searchable data for monitoring possible health impacts of GM crops, or that of crops /feeds in more general terms, on the health of livestock animals consuming these crops / feeds. This data was extracted from scientific papers after the application of data search and extraction protocols, with detailed description of each study, with accessible results, reference and link to the source paper, and from a survey performed by the project partners in their respective countries.
The content of the database is collected by the applying of selection criteria specially developed for the purpose of each section:
